What happens if a milk tooth does not receive treatment?

Milk teeth are “alive” in just the same way as permanent teeth. If decay reaches the pulp (the inside of the tooth where the nerves are located) this can get infected.

An infection that reaches the tips of the roots may damage or displace the budding adult tooth beneath the roots of the milk tooth.
